Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AOTM Software Development (“we”, “us”, “our”), trading as SCL Podcast, collects and uses information when you use https://sclpodcast.com, related web services, and the SCL Podcast Android application (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller for personal data processed through the Service is:
AOTM Software Development
The Bran, Bushy Park Road, Teddington, London, TW11 9JE, United Kingdom
Email: info@sclpodcast.com
Telephone: 0203 632 1003
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:
- Account details — name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), and account role (for example listener or administrator).
- Listening & engagement data — episodes you open or play, favourites, likes, comments (if enabled), and related timestamps.
- Technical data — IP address, browser or app type, device/OS information, approximate region derived from network data, and diagnostic logs needed to keep the Service secure and working.
- Uploaded content — if you are an authorised publisher/admin: episode audio, artwork, documents, and related metadata you submit.
- Communications — messages you send to us (for example support emails).
- Optional notifications data — if you enable browser or app alerts, a push subscription token or similar identifier so we can send new-episode notices. Native Android push is only used when Firebase/FCM is configured for a release build.
We do not intentionally collect special-category (sensitive) personal data.
3. How we use your information
- Provide, operate, and improve the podcast website and Android app
- Create and manage user accounts and authenticate sign-in
- Stream or deliver episode audio and related materials you are authorised to access
- Remember preferences such as favourites and language where applicable
- Send service emails (for example verification codes) when email authentication is enabled
- Send optional new-episode notifications if you opt in
- Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and secure the Service
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract — to provide the Service you request (account, listening access)
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Service, and understand aggregated usage (balanced against your rights)
- Consent — where required (for example optional push notifications or non-essential cookies/storage)
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information by law
5. Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies/session storage for sign-in and security. We may also use local storage or similar technologies for preferences, install prompts, and (where enabled) offline/cache features in the browser or app WebView. You can clear site data in your browser or app settings at any time.
6. Android application
The SCL Podcast Android app is a native shell that loads the live website. It may process the same account and listening data as the website. Network access is required for most features. Cached episode audio (if enabled) stays on your device until cleared.
App distribution via Google Play is subject to Google’s policies in addition to this Privacy Policy.
7. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our website, databases, and file storage under our instructions
- Email delivery providers when SMTP/email verification is enabled
- Analytics or error tools we configure to understand Service health (aggregated or limited identifiers where possible)
- Professional advisers or authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
Episode content you publish as an admin may be publicly available on the Service and in podcast feeds where enabled.
8. International transfers
Our primary operations are in the United Kingdom. If providers process data outside the UK, we take appropriate steps required by applicable law (for example standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where needed).
9. Retention
We keep account and service data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited records longer where required for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance, then delete or anonymise them when no longer needed.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion in certain circumstances
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability for information you provided to us
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise these rights, email info@sclpodcast.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data (including HTTPS and hashed passwords). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
